The
Light Aircraft
Thrill
Take the controls
of a light aircraft and
pilot it for the very
first time. Under the
experienced eye of your
highly qualified flying
instructor you'll find
out just why so many
people fall in love with
this amazing past
time.
Your
Thrilling Experience
Your
experience starts with a
comprehensive pre-flight
briefing on issues
including effects of the
flying controls and
cockpit safety. Then
after your instructor
has completed the
external checks you
finally get your chance
to strap into the two or
four seat dual
controlled aircraft.
Your Flight Instructor
will carry out the take
off and initial climb
before he hands over the
controls to you. This is
when the Thrill really
begins !
Important
information
The
recommended minimum age
for this activity is 12
years. Min height 4'5",
max 6'7'' and max weight
15.5 stone for a two
seater and 18 stone for
a four seater aircraft.
(other restrictions may
apply or vary according
to venue, please check
with the training
organisation before you
fly) Due to airfield
security you may need
proof of identity.
Length
of activity
Your
experience will last for
between 30 and 60
minutes depending on
your selection. These
times are blocks-off to
blocks-on and include up
to 10 minutes of ground
taxiing time. In most
cases 60 minutes
block-to-block flights
are better value than
the shorter flights, as
you will achieve a
greater percentage of
time in the air.
Weather
Conditions
Light
aircraft flying is very
dependent on the weather
conditions and so it is
important to phone the
flight-training
organisation to confirm
your booking before
setting off from home.
Even when you do arrive
at the airfield you may
need to re-book due to
an unexpected change in
weather conditions.
Availability
Almost all
flight-training
organisations operate
seven days a week for
most of the year.
Weekends are
particularly busy and
must be booked well in
advance.
What
to wear
Dress
casually (no shorts or
tee-shirts) and wear
flat-soled shoes or
trainers. Sunglasses are
recommended.
Friends
& Family
All Friends
& Family are
welcome. The four seat
trial lessons allow an
additional passenger to
sit in the back of the
aircraft for free. Young
Children under eight
years are not to fly
unsupervised in the back
of the aircraft. They
may travel in the back
whilst supervised by an
additional adult
passenger, but only at
the sole discretion of
the flight-training
organisation.
Extra
information
These trial
lessons can be
considered as part of
Private Pilot Licence
Syllabus and may be used
toward the minimum of 45
hours required for the
PPL issue.
Many Flight Training
Organisations have
facilities for the
disabled, please email
us for details.
