The
Helicopter
Thrill
The Helicopter
Thrill is one of the
most popular choices by
those seeking
Megathrills to give for
a special occasion such
as Christmas or a
birthday etc. But
nothing is as exciting,
thrilling and glamorous
as piloting a
helicopter, hovering it,
even flying it backwards
or cruising it cross
country. This thrill is
guaranteed to leave a
lasting impression.
Your
Thrilling Experience
Your
experience includes a
briefing on flying
techniques and safety
before your flight in a
dual controlled training
helicopter, usually a
Robinson R22. You'll
also have the chance to
take the controls, at
your instructor's
discretion, and pilot
the aircraft under
his/her expert
supervision.
Important
information
Minimum age
varies from 12-18
according to venue. The
Robinson R22 helicopter
has a maximum passenger
weight of 17 stone. Some
venues may require you
to bring name and
address/photo
identification on the
day for security
reasons.
Length
of activity
Your
experience will last up
to 2 hours depending on
your selection. These
times are at or in the
helicopter and you must
also allow up to 30
minutes for a pre-flight
briefing.
Weather
Conditions
Helicopter
flying is a weather
dependent activity,
mainly due to wind
speeds and cloud base
above the ground. It is
crucial that you call
the centre for a weather
check before setting out
to ensure conditions are
suitable.
Availability
Most centres
operate seven days per
week, subject to
availability. Please
note that weekends are
particularly busy and
should be booked at
least four weeks in
advance.
What
to wear
Wear loose,
comfortable clothing, as
the cockpit can get
warm. Sunglasses are
recommended.
Friends
& Family
Bring friends
and family along, and
don't forget the camera.
Extra
information
Flying time
can count towards a
Private Pilot's Licence.
To qualify for a PPL you
will need a minimum of
45 hours dual control of
which at least 10 hours
must be solo. Some
operators fly craft
other than the R22.
